About Jonathan Schwarz
I am a board-certified music therapist with a Master's in Music Therapy from New York University.
I believe that my role as music therapist is to provide a safe environment in which a client can utilize music as a means for communication, exploration, reflection, connection, and growth.
My experience includes work with clients (from child to adult) in a variety of hospital, school, and private practice settings. In addition to diverse outpatient work, I have specialized experience working with neurodiverse populations, clients with Alzheimer's Disease, and other varied states of physical and mental health.
My most recent work has been the design and implementation of an original class curriculum for a high school in Los Angeles. The class is designed to teach the foundational components of music and to utilize the students' personal experiences of music as a resource for facilitating communication, exploration of identity, interpersonal communication, and self-expression.
In individual work, I offer a music therapy assessment followed by individual music therapy sessions when deemed appropriate. Instruments for in-session play are provided. Please feel free to reach out to me regarding availability, rates, and any other inquiries.
