Music Therapy

Music therapy is an evidence-based practice in which music and sound are utilized within a therapeutic dynamic to facilitate exploration, communication, expression, reflection, and growth. 

 

Playing, listening to, and experiencing music in a safe and open space can serve to maintain, rehabilitate, and cultivate a state of well-being.  The content of sessions can vary widely, depending on the needs of the client.

Potential areas be addressed include:

• General or acute anxiety

• Stress
• Isolation / Socialization
• Depression

• Self-esteem

• Identity Affirmation
• Communication
• Coping skills
• Self-regulation
• Emotional distress

• Fine and gross motor skills

You do not need to have any previous experience playing music to participate and grow in music therapy!  The music therapy space is one that will be shaped to best suit your unique needs as we determine and work towards your therapeutic goals together.

Activities may include:
• Instrument exploration
• Improvisation
• Songwriting
• Music listening
• Lyric interpretation
• Tactile/sensory experientials
